Growing Vegetables at Home
Saturday 21st August | 10.00am – 12.00pm
Fun and interactive workshop presented by John Ballard from ‘Your Green Companion’.
This workshop will cover:
- Learn how to grow abundant vegetables at your own home
- Soil mix and the difference between garden soil, potting mix, recipes for soil mixes and testing PH levels for the best results
- Seeds and seedlings including types, direct and indirect seedlings, also harvesting seeds
- Companion planting – what does this mean, what are the benefits for the garden and the environment
- How to protect your plants to keep them strong and resilient against attacks from grubs and other pests
- Garden beds including containers, pots, foam and wooden boxes
You will get to take home a FREE Micro Greens Sprouting Kit for your own garden.
Science Behind Cooking
Saturday 28th August | 9.30am – 12.30pm
Stand back Heston Blumenthal – This hands on interactive demonstration will teach you about the science behind chemical reactions that take place in certain foods and what makes them behave in a certain way.
In this session you will learn how to make greek yoghurt ( which you will take home) and sauerkraut. You will also have tastings of other foods where a chemical reaction takes place; Variety of cheeses, Kombucha, Yoghurt and Sauerkraut. Also learn how fermentation assists to reduce food waste.
Light Lunch provided will be provided during the next session.
Composting & Recycling

Discover the benefits to the environment and your garden in this fun workshop!! Composting your food waste means you send less waste to landfill and the process also produces a nutrient rich soil that is great for your garden.
